Conchita Hernandez Legorreta was born in Mexico and grew up in California. She received her doctorate degree from George Washington University in special education focused on neuroscience. Conchita is founder of METAS, a non-profit organization that trains educators in Latin America that work with blind/low vision students and students with other disabilities. Conchita is also a co-founder of the National Coalition of Latinx with Disabilities that seeks to amplify the voices of disabled Latinx in the disability rights movement. Conchita was a Biden Presidential Appointee to to the National Board for Education Science. Conchita works to improve education and inclusive practices through her work.
